Snowflake cupcake toppers for Snowflake Week
Santa brought Lily a book called Craft-a-Day by Sarah Goldschadt, and I think it’s my favorite gift of all this year. The book is full of simple, handmade crafts for every single day of the year. And what makes it especially fun for my organization-craving brain is that each week has its own theme: Gnome Week, Pirate Week, Circle Week, Mittens Week, etc.
The crafts are simple but very stylish (the author is Danish-American, so she’s got that cool Scandinavian-vibe going). Over the course of the year we’ll be making magnets, cupcake toppers, garlands, cards, gift tags, and wall art.
One thing I’ve learned in my 14 years of parenting is that preparation is everything. So while Lily was having a slumber party with the grandparents during Christmas break, Lexie and I went to JoAnn Fabrics and stocked up on Craft-a-Day supplies. Mostly card stock, felt, and embroidery yarn, plus a few odds and ends like gel pens and paint. We put it all in a plastic bin and borrowed Miss Sarah’s artwork to make a label. And now we have what we need whenever we (Lily!) find ourselves at loose ends.

That looks like a great book! I’ve been thinking about what projects I can do with the boys these days! 🙂 Happy New Year Shannon!

I think the book’ll be great for keeping our crafting momentum going. And I like the idea of stocking up on homemade cards, gift tags, etc.
