On Sunday we took a vote for the next country of the week and the kids decided it should be the good old USA. I have to admit I was thinking we’d just learn about other countries this summer, but then I started to think about it and all sorts of possibilities popped up. Plus, with the Fourth of July this week it makes sense. So USA it is!
I asked the crew what we could do this week that would be uniquely American. “Baseball!” said Tim. So we quickly got ourselves together and headed to Minneapolis for the Sunday afternoon game.
This was our first visit to the new Twins stadium and all I can say is “Wow!” The venue is amazing, the crowd was great, and the whole experience was a blast. We especially liked the view of the Minneapolis skyline, the free ice water in the 95 degree heat (whew!), and the fireworks that went off every time a Twins player got a home run—four times yesterday!
Baseball, hot dogs, and a rousing rendition of “God Bless America” led by Air Force 1st Lt. Jodi Kiminski—USA Week is off to a great start!
Are you a fan of baseball? The nice thing about professional games is that there’s so much going on, you don’t have to be a fan to enjoy yourself. And people watching is always fun.
Next up: Fourth of July favors and the New England region.
